Autumn Youth & Juniors
2026 Autumn Youth & Juniors starts at 10:00 am. The site will be open from 9.30. Please go to Gail/Officer of the Day (OOD) when you first arrive.
Y&J sessions are run by member volunteers, the sessions on each day will depend on the people & resources available. They may include one or more of the following overseen by the OOD / Safety Boat Lead (SBL):
* Recreational sailing with safety cover by qualified powerboat drivers
* Race practice led by a Y&J race officer.
* Structured learning objectives sessions delivered by a Dinghy Instructor (DI) to a plan agreed with a Senior Instructor (SI) who is not currently on site (max ratio 1 to 12)
* Race Coaching delivered by an RCL2 or if an Sl is on site, by a Race Instructor
* RYA YSS training delivered by a DI/AI (max ratio 1 to 9 sailors / 6 dinghies) to a plan agreed with an SI who is currently on site. Elements in sailing log books may be signed off after these sessions.
* Powerboat training by a Powerboat Instructor (max ratio 1 to 3). Elements in the PB1/PB2 schemes may be signed off after these sessions but a full assessment on a single day must be completed to sign off a certificate.
As a parent the team would like your support with the following:
- Helping as a crew within the rescue boat
- Helping in the kitchen cooking lunch
- Helping in packing up at the end of session and making sure all boats, buoyance aids are put away!!
- Training towards any of the roles on this page is also available.
You will see a duty roster below, please add your name if you would be interesting in doing one of these roles for this session.
